Nitrogen Removal Using a Membrane Bioreactor with Rubber Particles as the Fouling Reducer

The use of granule activated carbon (GAC) and rubber particles as the bio-fouling reducer in a membrane bioreactor (MBR) was evaluated this study. addition GAC tends to temporarily reduce Transmembrane Pressure (TMP). Then, after initial reduction, TMP gradually increased back up 0.7 bar, indicating significant fouling on membrane. Low values were observed adding 0.5% (V/V) same MBR. organic compound nitrogen removal efficiencies MBR under intermittent aeration over 94% 93.3%, respectively. results showed that Dysgonomonas, Acidobacteria, Pantoea sp. contributed nitrification process while Lactobacillus, Erythrobacter, Phytobacter, Mycobacterium denitrification process.
